Strategic Goals and Objectives:

The map above highlights the two NEBD areas as well as the CBD and South Beach UIP areas. Notably, the NE Business 1 and 2 areas include significant municipal property (KwaMuhle Museum, Water and Sanitation Services, the Centrum site, Gugu Dlamini Park, and the ICC/Exhibition Centre complex), which does not contribute to the NEBD budget. Furthermore, NEB 3 is not contiguous with areas one and two.

The NEBD was created to strengthen the area's safety, appearance, and economic performance by:
The NEBD is funded through a special levy paid by property owners within the precinct. The municipality collects this levy and transfers the funds to the NEBD management entity to provide supplementary services, including:
Some major municipal properties within the precinct benefit from these improvements but do not contribute financially to the NEBD budget.
Property owners benefit from improved property values, better precinct management, enhanced security, and increased investor confidence.
Businesses enjoy a safer, cleaner trading environment, improved customer confidence, and greater investment appeal.
Visitors experience improved safety, cleaner public spaces, and better-maintained streets and facilities.
Residents benefit from a more attractive and liveable neighbourhood, increased safety, improved infrastructure maintenance, and opportunities for community participation.
The NEBD operates in partnership with the municipality, complementing rather than replacing municipal services. It collaborates with the municipality on:
This partnership helps create a well-managed, sustainable, and attractive urban precinct that supports residents, businesses, property owners, and visitors alike.
